The Guatemala Field Station is located in Patzún in the western highlands of Guatemala. The Field Station is a joint effort of the Maryland Language Science Center and Wuqu'Kawoq, a local NGO that provides health services to rural Mayan communities.
The project is led by Drs. Maria Polinsky, Omer Preminger and Pedro Mateo Pedro, experts in fieldwork and Mayan linguistics. Significant administrative support is provided by staff at Wuku'Kawoq (particularly Ana López) and the Language Science Center (particularly Caitlin Eaves and Tess Wood).
